If someone made a record about you.
Sometimes a family member keeps a record to help look after someone they love. They do this in a part of Care World called Care Vault. If someone has made a record about you, this page tells you what that means and what you can do — in plain words. You do not need an account to read it. If you are under 18, read the separate children and young people's explanation.
A family member may have made a record about you
Someone in your family or someone who helps care for you may have written down some things about you to help organise care. If the information did not come from you, you still have the right to be told, subject to limited legal exceptions. Care World records whether the notice was given rather than assuming an exception applies.
What can be kept
Only what helps with your care, and no more than needed. That can include your name, who to call in an emergency, and health things like your conditions, allergies and the medicines you take. We keep as little as possible. We never sell your information, and we never use it to make decisions about you on our own.
Who can see it
Access depends on the kind of record and the permissions in force. For an adult record, only permitted circle members or linked carers can see the sections they are allowed to use. For a child record, access is limited to authorised family managers; sharing with carers is currently switched off. Sensitive access is recorded.
Your rights
You have rights over information about you. Subject to the law, you can ask us to:
- show you what is kept about you (access);
- fix anything that is wrong (correction);
- stop or limit how it is used (objection);
- delete it (erasure).
To use any of these, email privacy@careworld.app and tell us what you want. We will help. Using your rights is normally free, and it will not get you or your family into trouble.
How to find out if there is a record about you
If you are not sure whether a record exists, email privacy@careworld.app and we will check for you. An adult who has capacity may be invited to claim their record, which links it to their own sign-in. Child records do not have child accounts: a child or responsible adult can instead ask us directly for access, correction, restriction or deletion.
How long it is kept
Your record is kept only while it is needed. When we agree to a deletion request, sensitive values are removed and the record is hidden straight away; the minimized record is permanently purged after the documented deletion window, unless a limited legal hold applies.
